Marsello alternatives for small shops without a marketing team

Le fil d’actualité de l’app Badger sur un téléphone : la publication de la Boulangerie Ronny annonçant son catalogue traiteur pour les événements

Marsello is a loyalty and marketing platform for retail and hospitality: points, email and SMS campaigns, automations, segmentation, reporting, connected to Shopify, Lightspeed and others. Its site lists two plans, from 60 and 120 dollars a month per site, read in September 2026. It is a good tool for a brand with someone to run it. A small shop's problem is not that Marsello does too little; it is that it waits to be told what to do.

What a shop without a marketer actually needs

Nobody is going to write a campaign on Tuesday evening after closing. So you need a tool where the messages that matter go out without you writing them:

  • the customer told when their reward is close, and when it is ready;
  • the Google review request, after a visit, at the right moment;
  • news of something new or an offer, shown to customers who are nearby;
  • nothing else. No segments, no sequences, no twelve-tab dashboard.

And the price has to be built for one location, not a chain.

Badger

Badger is a points-based loyalty programme for cafés, restaurants, takeaways and shops in French-speaking Switzerland. The messages send themselves: reward notifications, a Google review request from the second visit on, posts shown to Badger customers located around you. You write what you have to say, when you have something to say; nothing decays if you post nothing for a month. Points on the amount paid, by scan or from a Lightspeed till. Setup takes twenty minutes, with us, and support is by phone.

Choose it if you are in French-speaking Switzerland and want a programme that runs without a marketer.

FaveCard

FaveCard is a digital stamp card with a free plan; paid plans add automations (reminders, birthdays), Google review requests and the Wallet pass. Simpler than Marsello, on stamp logic.

Choose it if stamps are enough and you want to start free.

Loopy Loyalty

Loopy Loyalty is a stamp card in the Wallet, with no app for the customer, automated messages and analytics. No complex campaigns, no segmentation: that is precisely the point.

Choose it if you want the least possible friction on the customer side.

Square Loyalty

If you are on Square, its built-in programme sends automatic texts to customers identified by phone number, with nothing more to configure. Without a Square POS, it is not an option.

How to choose

Ask yourself one question: who will write the messages? If the answer is "nobody", the tool has to decide the timing and content of the messages that matter on its own, and leave you the rest. If the answer is "someone, one hour a week", Marsello or another campaign tool is defensible.

In French-speaking Switzerland, a twenty-minute Badger demo is enough to see what would send itself at your place.
